Web Wagons – 1950 Packard Woodie

Up for sale on Hemmings this week is a 1950 Packard Woodie. This is an absolutely gorgeous example of premium 50’s design with genuine woodwork! Not that mylar/dynoc stuff we have on our cars. There’s something about these timeless classics that just evokes wonder and joy in a car guys heart.

These beautifully restored Packard is a rarity in and of itself. It’s precisely the sort of vehicle we care-and-attention types love to drool over. The seller has sweetened the deal on this old boat by throwing in…well…a boat. An unrestored Penn Yan boat with period correct Mercury outboard and Tee Nee trailer would make this set a winner at pretty much any car show they arrived at.

Asking price: $89,900

From the seller’s description:

Model 3201, 135bhp, 288 cu. in. inline L-head eight-cylinder engine, column shift manual transmission, independent front with rear semi-elliptic leaf springs and four-wheel drum brakes. Wheelbase: 120″

Painted in the original Packard Ivory color with completely restored wood, this stylish 1950 Packard Woodie Wagon has undergone an extensive frame-up cosmetic restoration. The wood was professionally restored and refinished to showroom condition. From its “Goddess of Speed” hood ornament to the rear bumperettes, the chrome is free of any serious blemishes with excellent sheen.

Mechanically, all aspects of the drivetrain were fully serviced and rebuilt where necessary for future trouble-free motoring. The original Packard straight eight runs smoothly and the three-speed transmission shifts quietly and easily. Full bumperettes front and rear, twin mirrors and a spotlight add to the Fifties flavor.

Touring in this iconic woodie station wagon is much more relaxing and enjoyable, thanks to the fitting of Vintage air conditioning, safer wide whitewall radial tires and a period exterior sunvisor.

While the boat has not been fully restored, it has had a good amount of cosmetic refinishing, including fresh paint, varnish and interior, which notably matches the interior of the Packard as well. The Penn Yan Aristocrat also features a period Mercury outboard on an original and color-matching Tee-nee trailer (which is absolutely adorable all by itself!). The Aristocrat Runabout, with its painted red hull, comes fully equipped for pleasure boating, including wooden water skis and other period boating accessories.
